Nancy Carey Photography: Blog https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog en-us (C) Nancy Carey Photography [email protected] (Nancy Carey Photography) Tue, 21 Mar 2023 16:11:00 GMT Tue, 21 Mar 2023 16:11:00 GMT Simple Beauty https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/7/simple-beauty A headshot.  It sounds so simple.  I just need to take a picture from the shoulders up, right?  What I want for my clients though is to find their true person and convey that onto an image.  I say it all the time.  I take the time to capture the moment.  Most clients are initially uncomfortable in front of the camera.  I know I am!  My "job" is to not only technically do all the right things and pose the client at the best angle.  It's important to first help the client to relax.  I talk.  I may joke around.  If need be, I ask him/her to take a few deep breaths and to shake their hands out.  I find the beauty in a person and compliment them sincerely.  In time (I don't rush) we start to have fun working together.  I also talk to them about their career.  This lovely women coaches men and women on health and nutrition.  She is naturally friendly and sincere.  I told her to think about how she feels when she is working with her clients.  I asked her what will someone want to see when they look at the headshot on her website.  A potential client would like to see compassion, warmth, intelligence and sincerity.  They want to see someone they could trust.  As I'm firing away with my camera I'm reminding her to think about all of this. She jokingly asked me to make her look twenty years younger.  Of course I wouldn't do that.  I don't do what I call "plastic" in post processing.  I want the real beauty to shine through.  The final result is here.  I look into these eyes and I see joy.  I look at this smile and I see true friendliness.  I love this picture!  It's real.  It's beautiful.

It's Laina from the inside out.

Maggie and Nick https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/4/maggie-and-nick Maggie and Nick were married on the beautiful island of Antigua a few months ago, where their formal photographs were taken.  I was asked to capture the special moments with family and friends at an intimate reception held at Lightkeepers Residence in Cohasset, MA.  Maggie and Nick have dated since high school, went to college together and now they begin their new journey as husband and wife.  One of the benefits of being a photographer is I had the opportunity to work with such a great couple and to meet their wonderful family.  This is a short slide show of their reception set to their favorite song.  Please have your speakers turned on.  Maggie and Nick I wish you every happiness the future will hold for you.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your party.

Adoption Day! https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/3/adoption-day I have a new grandson!  He is sweet, funny and all around adorable.  My son and daughter-in-law brought this sweet newborn into their hearts and their home over a year ago.  The first time I held him in my arms I was in love.  I never realized that it would not matter in the least whether a child is biological or from foster care.  He stole my heart.  I never really knew the process of bringing a foster child home and going through all the necessary legalities or formalities, if that is the correct word.  I along with my family experienced all the emotions from anxiety to absolute joy.  A few months ago we received the word we had been waiing for.  We had a date for adoption day!  Although I am a photographer, I knew that I could not be the photographer for our day.  I wanted to simply be a Nana.  Plus I wasn't sure I would be able to keep my emotions in check.  Which I didn't.  So a dear photographer friend of mine offered to take my place.  She was amazing as I knew she would be.  Patti Anne Napolitano delivered the perfect documentary of our day, right from my grandson getting dressed to the hugs and tears after the ceremony.

What I have realized from our experiencce is I want to give back to any family who is adopting a child.  I would love to document your day, just as my friend did for us.  There would not be any charge.  My "payment" would be seeing the joy your family experiences.  Please, if you know of anyone who lives locally on the South Shore of Massachusettes and has an adoption day in their future, ask them to call me.  I'm aware of the legalities and I will give their child and family                   the upmost respect they deserve.

When did I lose it on my grandson's big day?  When the judge told him he was a miracle.

Yes he is.  He's our miracle.

Catching Up! https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/12/a-very-merry-christmas-and-happy-hanukkah Sometimes it nice to just breathe.  As much as I love what I do, it's always good to take time off to reflect on the blessings I have in my life.  Part of that is being given this wonderful opportunity to photograph people.  Not just human beings and it's another job.  It's more about having the chance to be with people and to know them.  I can't imagine trying to capture an image by just saying hello and then pointing the camera.  It's so important to me to find a person's true essence.  Whether is it someone who feels awkward in front of the camera, or a baby crying or children running in very different directions, I love to work through all of it and create a moment.  I don't put a time limit on my photo sessions for this reason.  It takes time for everyone to feel comfortable.  However for the first time I decided to try a Christmas Photo Mini Session.  It was fun, but I hope I have the opportunity to have more time in the future for a full session with these children

.  I think by this date, holiday cards have been delivered.  Therefore I will show you a few from the mini session.  Lastly, I will also add a few full sessions I enjoyed.

Now a few special families that I was able to spend a full session with!

How precious are they?  Meet Paris and Nash.

Meet Roberta's grandchildren!

Meet Warren and Louise!

Meet Harper and Ella!

Meet Edy!

Crazy and I love it! https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/10/crazy-and-i-love-it It's been almost two months since I posted in my blog!  The good news is I have been really busy with my camera (or computer).  I'm having so much fun with newborn, senior and family portraits.  I even assisted at a beautiful wedding. The main reason I have to be able to catch up with all of you is because we have had rain for the last five days.  We've been dealing with such a drought for most of the summer and God has a wonderful way of evening things out.  So the rain is a blessing.  However, I had to postpone two family sessions for this weekend because of the weather.  You will see their pictures in a few weeks since we have rescheduled.  For now, until this Thursday I can catch up with so much, including this blog.

Here are a few of my new friends!

I'll start with the precious little baby boy.  Finn was the perfect "model"!  He and I could have kept going for hours.  It was when I looked over at his poor parents who were of course quite tired and very warm since I have to keep the studio area heated for the baby, I knew I had to call it quits.  Finn was only ten days old when his pictures were taken.

I love this little boy!

Next meet Eila.  I loved working with Eila for her Senior Portraits.  Outside of being so, so pretty, she was very sweet and kind.  We worked so well together!  At first, as most seniors are, she was a little nervous.  Then the magic began.

There is a reason this picture is on my home page.

p.s. The bracelet is a gift from her grandmother.

Now meet the Grant family.  Dad and his kids were so much fun to work with!  Two are twins and seniors in high school. One is in college.  Isn't it wonderful to capture this moment in time?  All three were so easy to work with and fun.

Dad, I know is so proud and rightfully so.

Then one more for now.  I had the honor to assist photographer Diane Gulla at a lovely wedding for Kate and Billy.  This was such a storybook wedding, down to the very last detail.  Kate and Billy's love for each other was seen not only between them, however in every moment of the day.  Kate and Billy I wish you many years of happiness.

I love what I do!

Oh the Sunset! https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/10/oh-the-sunset Everyone once in awhile I will be out with my camera and amazingly everything will fall into place.  I'm still so excited inside by this image!  I was planning to shoot the sunset and I had a new place in mind.  Well place number one did not work.  I just wasn't feeling it.  So I go in the car to location number two.  I love the location, but the sun was setting behind a big patch of trees and that wasn't going to work.  Now I'm racing against time and it finally clicked where I needed to be.  There is a beach at the very tip of Hull, MA called Hull Gut.  I got out of my car at the perfect time and there it was.  Not only the Boston skyline off in the distance, but the clouds were perfect!  Add that to God supplying beautiful sunset rays peeking through the clouds and I was all set.  Now all I needed was something in the foreground to add interest.  A sailboat!!  She just glided right into my frame and I fired away.  At times like this, when everything works, I have one of my happy moments.  I am so blessed!  You may also see this image under Fine Art 1 (titled "Beaches").

Finding Peace in Vermont https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/6/finding-peace-in-vermont I always find that once I cross the border from New Hampshire into Vermont my mind and body starts to find a calming place that I really can't describe.  I call Vermont my de-stress state.  Twenty eight other photographer friends and I recently stayed in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont for a long weekend.  The trip was a fundraiser for a dear photographer friend of ours who is battling stage four brain cancer and is unable to work or drive.  He's not only a great guy, but a masterful photographer.  Luckily for all, he was well enough to join us.  We spent our days taking our cameras to some of the most beautiful spots in the state.  It's always a special experience to be with other photographers, sharing our knowledge and passion.  We also manage to find great places to eat and have many, many laughs.  I have never been in this region during the summer.  This has always been an autumn excursion for us.  Some of my autumn pictures from the Northeast Kingdom are on my Fine Art drop down, under "Finding Peace in Vermont".  Don't forget to hit slideshow and have your speakers turned on.

Here are a few of my favorites from that weekend.

Katherine and Zachary's College Graduation https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/6/katherine-and-zacks-college-graduation As I have said before, I love working with people.  I love photographing people and I love capturing the special moments in a person's life.  What an honor and an absolute treat for me to capture all the special moments of Katherine and Zachary's college graduation party!   Brother and sister both graduated this year and the party was filled with so much happiness and love as family and friends joined in to congratulate the graduates.  It was such a diverse "job", because I had the chance to do it all!  Families wanted spur of the moment group portraits.  Friends wanted group portraits.   Proud mom of course wanted a few special portraits of her son and daughter.  Then I rounded it all out with lots of candid moments that tell the story.  This was such a great day, not only for all attending, but for me as well.  I think I have found a new favorite thing to do in photography.  I love events!  Congratulations Katherine as you begin your career as a phlebotomist at a leading hospital.  Congratulations Zachary as you begin your career as a Marine.  Thank you for your service.  Here are a few collages I created to capture the day.

Women's Business Connection Twentieth Anniversary https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/6/womens-business-connection-twentieth-anniversary I had the honor to photograph the twentieth anniversary of the Women's Business Connection of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce at Lombardos recently. These amazing women have dedicated their purpose of equality for women in the workforce. The strides they have made are vast and yet they admit there is more to be done. I salute them all for their belief and dedication.  Here are a few collages of this very special event.

Costa Rica https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/4/costa-rica Costa Rica!  What a beauty!  We just came home and since I live in the Northeast where the winter cold just does not want to leave us, I find myself longing for the dry, 95 degree days.  I fell in love with this country.  The beauty is everywhere.  The people are so friendly and I have never seen such a clean environment.  We stayed on the Pacific coast in the Guanacaste region.  It is dry season now, so we spent 10 days enjoying the sun and warmth.  The beach we were on is Playa Flamingo and is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica.  I can see why.  The sands are so pure without any rocks, seaweed or shells.  It is just pure sand and warm water.  The sunsets were the most beautiful I have ever seen.  Just before sunset our resort would play a calming flute music which would draw people to the beach.  We would all just stand there and watch the colors of the vanishing sun while the music played in the background.  Magical!  We took a few tours, one being a 17 hour trip to Arenal Volcanic National Park.  This rain forest is so stunning and I wish I could go back and spend more time.  If you ever go to Costa Rica, I highly recommend staying in this area at least for a few days.  All in all, we saw at least a little of everything.  The wildlife, the lush flora, beautiful beaches, a coffee plantation, as well as sugar cane, watermelon and canteloupe plantations.  Of course my husband and I always had our cameras with us.  Here are a few examples.  If you would like to see more, please go to my home page.  Click the Fine Art 2 drop down and you will see Costa Rica.  To enjoy the full experience, click "slideshow" and turn up your speakers.  Pura Vida!

Waiting https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/4/waiting This was taken a few weeks ago while winter was still on the edge and the hope of spring around the corner.  Shot at dawn at the beach, I just love the story with this picture.  Granted this is my story and the beauty of art is, someone else, maybe you will see a different story.  I look at the home still closed up for the winter.  Abandoned.  However with the warmth of the sunlight brings a new season where windows will be opened and the owners will once again prepare for the summer months.  There will be sand on the floors and beach towels hanging to dry.

 For today though, we wait.

Sheri and Luigi https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/1/sheri-and-luigi Because of my surgery, it's been almost a year since I have been able to get back into what I love best.  That is portraits.  I had the absolute pleasure and honor to photograph Sheri and Luigi's engagement pictures this past December.  I've known Sheri for quite a few years and now with Luigi they make such a great couple.  As I have said in the past, when I first begin a photo shoot most people are a little shy and uncomfortable "posing" in front of the camera.  However it doesn't take long for them to really get into it and just relax.  I explain that I will pose them, however again, it's those moments in between that are natural and real that usually are the winners.  Sheri and Luigi were so much fun!  They caught on quickly and before long we were firing away, with them just being themselves.  Which happens to be a very awesome couple!  I wish them both many years filled with the love that they feel today, and then some.

I'm Back! https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/8/im-back I am now on the other side of my surgery and my recuperation, although slow, is moving along.  It's been so frustrating not being able to hold my camera or capture all the beauty summer has to offer.  Through the frustration I knew it was just a bump in the road.  I would heal and be back.  I am very blessed.  I ended up having pretty major right rotator cuff surgery and I am right handed.  So even though I am able to finally lift my camera, my strength and stability still has a way to go.  I can't do a photo shoot yet, however I was able to capture some amazing beauty at the Parker River Refuge in Plum Island, Massachusetts.  Here are a few.  Enjoy.  It's good to be back. Winter is Gone! https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/4/winter-is-gone If any of you are from Massachusetts you know we now hold the great honor of just surviving record snowfall.  The record was 108" and we broke that in certain areas, with all areas coming pretty darn close.  The "bragging" rights come from the fact that most of this snowfall happened between late January through the first week of March.  Did I take pictures of these huge mounds of snow?  Yes I did.  Will I ever show them to you.  Absolutely not!  I am not a fan of winter and this sentiment was shared by many this year.  The good new is most of us thought the bigger piles, known as snow farms would not disappear until June.  Well it's happening a little faster than that.  After all, we need to see the spring flowers and green grass.

I haven't been able to post to my blog because of a fall I took, during the first big blizzard in January.  Long story short, my right arm is a mess and I haven't been able to hold a camera properly.  If I did get out with my camera, I used my tripod, however even that was limited.  Now, finally I am having surgery on my shoulder in a week and will then be on the mend.  I'm a little bummed that I won't be able to hold my camera for about three months.  I will miss capturing our beautiful summer and people enjoying our beautiful summer!  However, it's all good.  Life gives us little speed bumps once in awhile and then we move on.  This surgery is my speed bump and I'm blessed to know I will once again be out with my camera.

So even, though it hurts like crazy to hold my camera and the pictures are less than wonderful because of my lack of stability, I'm capturing as many pretty moments as I can this week end.  Yesterday I had the chance to see spring in all its glory.  Here is one of my favorites.   I have one more photo shoot today and I will post those later.  So Happy Spring to all and may you be blessed with the knowledge that after the winter, spring will come.

My Step Away from Winter https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/2/my-step-away-from-winter I must admit, I am not a winter person.  As I look out my window and watch the third, fourth or fifth snowstorm in two weeks (lost count) wreak havoc on my beautiful gardens I thought I would post a few pictures I took a few weeks ago.  I had a chance to get inside a lovely greenhouse where flowers were blooming, pottery was displayed and there was a definite reminder that Spring will come and all this snow shall also pass.  Here are a few from that day.  The first one was so much fun.  To be able to make a jigsaw puzzle out of my image and then have just one piece misplaced is so out of the ordinary for me.  But, I love it!  The rest are to remind all of us, that the last of winter is closer than we think.

My Best of 2014 https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/1/my-best-of-2014 As I look forward to 2015, it is also time to look back to 2014 and reflect on all those moments that made this year.  By doing this, I have picked my 12 favorite images for 2014.  Actually, it's a baker's dozen for me. What makes a "favorite" for me is an image that tugs at me just a little in a wonderful sort of way.  I start with my portraits simply because I love capturing those special moments.  Most are candids or as I call them "the moment in between the pose".  How can I not love these first two?  Mom and Dad with their babies.  Both were not planned or posed.

I love this next one because this little cutie decided she didn't want her picture taken.  So I had to sneak the shots and this one worked.  Such a pretty little girl.

Then just a few months later and she is the perfect little model!  I love to photograph children because you just never know how it is going to go, however there is always a few gems when they are just allowed to do their thing

I love to photograph small weddings.  There is a simple sweetness about them.  I've already done a full blog on Sarah and Tom however I would be remiss if I didn't at least post one picture of this awesome couple.  If you scroll down my blog you will see more about them.

This is Lauren and Andrew.  I know it may seem strange that I would pick this picture instead of a typical bride and groom picture, however I have my reasons.  As I said earlier, I select pictures that tug at me and this one does.  As in most weddings, there is the family portraits that need to be taken and I love this one.  Maybe it's the mom in me, I don't know, however Andrew with his mom and his bride Lauren in the distance waiting patiently to step forward to be by Andrew's side is so sweet.  I have a video of Lauren and Andrew that I posted earlier if you would like to see more.  They are such a fun couple.

Senior portraits are so much fun.  For the most part the guys start out feeling awkward and uncomfortable.  More than likely Mom is the force behind these sessions.  However somewhere along the way they relax and become themselves.  This handsome guy was no exception.

I blogged earlier in the year about our trip to Sao Miguel, Azores.  I can't explain the beauty of the island, so I think pictures tell the story best.  Here are a few that I did not post before.  The first is cows.  Just cows walking down the road.  I love this picture!!!  I know it would not win any awards, but I just loved the simplicity of this island and no picture shows it more than cows walking down the road after a day of grazing and heading into another pasture.

This next one was taken at the Cha Porto Formoso tea plantation.  Outside of the rich colors and textures, what make this picture is the bathtub.  Seriously?  Love it.  Actually this tea plantation had some of the most beautiful landscapes on the island.

Next is the tea room inside the plantation.  So quaint.

Shifting to somewhere else, this was taken on the Bridge of Flowers in Shelburn, MA during early autumn.  I just like the simplicity of it.

If you have never been to Plimouth Plantation in Plymouth, MA, the museum is a replica of the early pilgrims and their living area.  Not only do the staff dress in traditional clothing of the time, they also speak as they did then.  They perform the everyday tasks of the period and one woman was actually plucking a chicken.  I wish I had a better picture of that, however here is a woman working with herbs in her home.

I am very fortunate to live near the ocean, which of course provides all sorts of photo ops.  This beach house is in the forefront of the Scituate Lighthouse.  Actually, the picture of Sarah and Tom above was taken at the same location.  A friend of mine wanted a picture taken of anywhere along our coastline to give to her sister as a wedding gift and this is the one she chose.  That is all the more reason for me to like it

That is it for 2014.  I have wonderful memories to share with you.  I wish all of you a Happy New Year and may 2015 bring you many blessings.  Come back and visit me once in awhile and I'll keep you updated.

Warmly,

Nancy Carey

Our Recent "Road Trip" https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/11/our-recent-road-trip Whenever fellow photographers get together with our cameras, it is well-known that friendships form, amazing pictures are taken and of course, breakfast, lunch or dinner will be consumed after the photo shoot.  What is so much fun is that each of us has our own style of photography.  Our own stamp, if you will of what our eyes see and what we capture.  There could be two photographers standing side by side with our cameras pointed in the same direction and yet our images could be very different.  Here are a few from our recent trip to Plymouth.  These images are not for purchase, but just taken to share and enjoy.  Everyone have a very Thankful and Blessed Thanksgiving.

Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning.  Sarah and Tom's wedding was so sweet.  I could stop right there and not say another word, because every part of their wedding day, from beginning to end evolved around two people who are completely in love.  Sarah who is stunningly beautiful with a smile that just radiates her entire being is funny and so cute.  Tom probably won't want to hear that he is one good looking guy, but he is.  He also is so kind, humble and yes very sweet.  Not exactly a masculine word, but I keep coming back to how these two chose to celebrate their wedding day and there is just no other word that fits as well.  They surrounded themselves with close family and friends.  They wanted a simple ceremony on the beach and yes!!! the weather was beautiful.  I remember asking them if they had a plan B if it rained.  They basically said it was going to be a beautiful day, and it was.  However, all I had to do was see what they were bringing to their wedding day and it was anything but "simple".  It was filled with joy and lots of love.  They wanted to have fun and they did..  Here is a slide show of a few of their moments taken by my husband Bud and I and set to their favorite song.  Sarah and Tom you are both such loves and thank you for making us part of your special day.

Meet Chris, Allison, Ella and Harper https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/9/meet-chris-allison-ella-and-harper I have been photographing this lovely family for the past four years.  It all started when little Ella Grace was born and just took off from there. I think all of my friends and camera buddies have seen every picture I have ever taken of her.  She is so beautiful and watching her grow from an infant to a "big girl" of four has been nothing less than complete joy.  It hasn't always been easy.  There are times, especially this past year where she just did not want her picture taken.  But...that is where the challenge begins and magic happens.  During this last family shoot I was able to capture some beauties of Miss Ella.  She thought she was getting away with something but I won!  Again, it's those special moments that we, as photographers need to work a little harder, however the reward of capturing their little personalities is priceless!  An added blessing came to the family last December.  Miss Harper Rose.  Another beautiful child.  Those eyes!  I want them!  She is such a happy little baby and right now she is okay with me taking her picture so I'm going for it!  Harper is now sitting up and interacting with her big sister in such a cute way. I love this family.  Mom and Dad are doing a great job raising their daughters.  Am I partial?  Probably just a little, because they are my family  and I love them dearly.

Robbie https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/8/robbie I don't think there is too much I don't like to photograph, except maybe machines, bugs, work tools or anything else I cannot find a certain grace in.  There are many phenomenal photographers who love to photograph the above mentioned, but for me it's people. Along with that I have to say one of my favorite photo sessions is Senior Portraits.  There is usually such a big difference between photographing a girl compared to a guy.  I know I sound sexist and I don't mean to be.  Both are so much fun!  For the most part, and there are exceptions, the females want to have their portraits done and may even have very definite ideas of what they want the finished product to look like.  Easy for me!  However, there is something about photographing a guy.  Again, for the most part, they have no interest in having their picture taken.  It's just one of the necessary moments they must endure their senior year.  Make the family happy and get it over with.  So maybe not so easy for me, but so much fun.  Usually the first 30 or so frames are awkward with me trying to make them feel comfortable and show them loosely what they need to do.  I prefer more natural images rather than "a pose", but we have to help these guys out!  What is really amazing and what makes this so much fun is about 30 - 45 minutes into the shoot the guys have relaxed and are just doing their thing.  That is when the magic begins.  Meet my so very awesome grandson Rob.  He was not any different.  I am sure that having his picture taken was not high on the list of quality time with family.  But...before long he was playing frisbee with my 5 in 1 reflector out in the field.  Yikes...expensive!  But all done with respect of property.  He was climbing a tree, the side of a barn and just being himself.  Perfect photo ops.  Okay, so maybe I'm a little partial, however he really was great to work with.  I loved every moment!  Rob also brought his adorable girlfriend with him and I was able to catch a few of them together.  Great job Rob!   This is why I love what I do.  Here are a few from our day

Lauren and Andrew - Just Right Farm - June 14, 2014 https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/7/lauren-and-andrew---just-right-farm---june-14-2014 So I was asked to photograph Lauren and Andrew's wedding day this past winter.  Lots of emails later (I'm a freak for making sure everything is done just as they wish), and we finally meet a few weeks before the wedding.  Then the wedding day arrived and I just knew it was going to be one of those photographer's "so happy" moments.  How could I not feel that way?  I just completely love Lauren and Andrew.  They are the sweetest, kindest and most fun couple.  Even though we were on the same page, so to speak as far as wanting everything to fall into place perfectly, they were so easy to work with.  The venue they chose, right down to the details spoke volumes of elegant casual.

From the moment they each arrived individually until the very end, their happiness and love for each other just radiated through.  I don't think Andrew's smile ever left his face!  Really!  I can't find a serious picture!  Well there must be one somewhere, but even my awesome second shooter noticed the same thing. Lauren, well there is just this completely "in love look" on her face and in her actions towards Andrew.

Both Lauren and Andrew wanted to remember their day with spur of the moment and sometimes funny pictures. Those are always the best.  As I say on my home page, its the moments in between two pictures that tell a story. They were both so comfortable in front of the camera that at one point they started to dance in the middle of a field.  As in ballroom dancing!  Then it was over to pet the goats! Two people so in love and so down to earth.  They have both chosen careers where they are trying to make a difference in a child's life. They are real as in I have so much respect and admiration for them.

They were married on a farm with their dearest of friends and family on a day in June.  How more perfect could it be?

I wish Lauren and Andrew every happiness that life has in store for them.

I was also very fortunate to have two second shooters with me.  My first is not only a wonderful photographer, but just about the best man around.  That would be my husband, Bud.  My second shooter, again not only a beautiful photographer, but a beautiful person as well.  That would be my friend Diane.  Bud followed Andrew. Although, I have to give him full props for the goat picture!  I followed Lauren.  Diane took all these amazing detail pictures of the decor.  Then we all kind of mixed it all up along the way.  We each brought our different artistry and vision to the wedding and we made a great team. These pictures are from all three of us.

I was going to put just a few pictures on this blog, but I couldn't stop!  I must stop!  Right now!  This is it. The rest are for Lauren and Andrew when all the pictures are finished.

Finding My Heritage https://nancycarey.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/5/finding-my-heritage In the year 1900 my grandfather came to this country from Sao Miguel, Azores as a young man of 16.  My grandmother also came from the same island.  Both settled in Southern Massachusetts and would later start a farm in Rhode Island and raise their children.  My dad and his siblings worked the farm along side their parents.  Dad later moved to Eastern Massachusetts with my mom.  My grandparents passed away long before I was born so I never had a chance to hear the stories about the "old country".  My dad's dream was to someday visit Sao Miguel.  Sadly he never made it so it became a purpose of mine to live his dream.  My husband, son and I just returned from our visit.  When I first set foot on Azorean soil, I knew my purpose was real.  I was now walking the same places my grandparents did.  What I wasn't totally prepared for was the absolute beauty of this island!  No matter where I went or where I turned there was beauty in front of me.  The landscapes were breathtaking.  Here are a few of my favorite places.  There will be more to come.  I took over a 1000 pictures!  I just couldn't stop!  Powerless over God's Creations.
