When I look at this journey I am on, I can see why my love of photography is such an integral part of who I am.  My interests of the past and today; my great love of family and my talents all seem to merge together to define who I am as a photographer.  Portrait photography has become my first love as a photographer simply because I love working with people.   As I mention on my home page, I love to find the special moment or feeling that someone is experiencing and capture it through my camera.

I have recently discovered that I love to photograph events.  Whether it is a formal sit down dinner or a backyard cook-out celebration, I love to get in the middle of it all with my camera.  Please check out my Events drop down on my home page for a few examples.

That does not mean given the chance to hop in a car or board a plane to someplace special is not exciting.

I love to travel!

I will be the first to admit I am a self-proclaimed non-techie.  Learning all the properties of my cameras or how to build this web site does not come easy.  It is all painstakingly learned through the many workshops and classes needed to achieve.  What I also know is I am very lyrical in my work.  Maybe it’s because of all my years studying ballet.  I don’t know.  However, I am always looking for the grace in an image.  It does not matter if it is a child, an adult of many years, a waterfall or a meadow.  I want to find the beauty in it all.

Please contact me if you are interested in a photo session near the Kingston, MA area and beyond.  I would love to be a part of your special moment.

My fine art images are available for purchase.

Have an amazing, wonderful day!

Simple Beauty

A headshot.  It sounds so simple.  I just need to take a picture from the shoulders up, right?  What I want for my clients though is to find their true person and convey that onto an image.  I say it all the time.  I take the time to capture the moment.  Most clients are initially uncomfortable in front of the camera.  I know I am!  My "job" is to not only technically do all the right things and pose the client at the best angle.  It's important to first help the client to relax.  I talk.  I may joke around.  If need be, I ask him/her to take a few deep breaths and to shake their hands out.  I find the beauty in a person and compliment them sincerely.  In time (I don't rush) we start to have fun working together.  I also talk to them about their career.  This lovely women coaches men and women on health and nutrition.  She is naturally friendly and sincere.  I told her to think about how she feels when she is working with her clients.  I asked her what will someone want to see when they look at the headshot on her website.  A potential client would like to see compassion, warmth, intelligence and sincerity.  They want to see someone they could trust.  As I'm firing away with my camera I'm reminding her to think about all of this. She jokingly asked me to make her look twenty years younger.  Of course I wouldn't do that.  I don't do what I call "plastic" in post processing.  I want the real beauty to shine through.  The final result is here.  I look into these eyes and I see joy.  I look at this smile and I see true friendliness.  I love this picture!  It's real.  It's beautiful.

It's Laina from the inside out.

Maggie and Nick

Maggie and Nick were married on the beautiful island of Antigua a few months ago, where their formal photographs were taken.  I was asked to capture the special moments with family and friends at an intimate reception held at Lightkeepers Residence in Cohasset, MA.  Maggie and Nick have dated since high school, went to college together and now they begin their new journey as husband and wife.  One of the benefits of being a photographer is I had the opportunity to work with such a great couple and to meet their wonderful family.  This is a short slide show of their reception set to their favorite song.  Please have your speakers turned on.  Maggie and Nick I wish you every happiness the future will hold for you.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your party.

Adoption Day!

March 17, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

I have a new grandson!  He is sweet, funny and all around adorable.  My son and daughter-in-law brought this sweet newborn into their hearts and their home over a year ago.  The first time I held him in my arms I was in love.  I never realized that it would not matter in the least whether a child is biological or from foster care.  He stole my heart.  I never really knew the process of bringing a foster child home and going through all the necessary legalities or formalities, if that is the correct word.  I along with my family experienced all the emotions from anxiety to absolute joy.  A few months ago we received the word we had been waiing for.  We had a date for adoption day!  Although I am a photographer, I knew that I could not be the photographer for our day.  I wanted to simply be a Nana.  Plus I wasn't sure I would be able to keep my emotions in check.  Which I didn't.  So a dear photographer friend of mine offered to take my place.  She was amazing as I knew she would be.  Patti Anne Napolitano delivered the perfect documentary of our day, right from my grandson getting dressed to the hugs and tears after the ceremony.

What I have realized from our experiencce is I want to give back to any family who is adopting a child.  I would love to document your day, just as my friend did for us.  There would not be any charge.  My "payment" would be seeing the joy your family experiences.  Please, if you know of anyone who lives locally on the South Shore of Massachusettes and has an adoption day in their future, ask them to call me.  I'm aware of the legalities and I will give their child and family                   the upmost respect they deserve.

When did I lose it on my grandson's big day?  When the judge told him he was a miracle.

Yes he is.  He's our miracle.

Catching Up!

Sometimes it nice to just breathe.  As much as I love what I do, it's always good to take time off to reflect on the blessings I have in my life.  Part of that is being given this wonderful opportunity to photograph people.  Not just human beings and it's another job.  It's more about having the chance to be with people and to know them.  I can't imagine trying to capture an image by just saying hello and then pointing the camera.  It's so important to me to find a person's true essence.  Whether is it someone who feels awkward in front of the camera, or a baby crying or children running in very different directions, I love to work through all of it and create a moment.  I don't put a time limit on my photo sessions for this reason.  It takes time for everyone to feel comfortable.  However for the first time I decided to try a Christmas Photo Mini Session.  It was fun, but I hope I have the opportunity to have more time in the future for a full session with these children

.  I think by this date, holiday cards have been delivered.  Therefore I will show you a few from the mini session.  Lastly, I will also add a few full sessions I enjoyed.

Now a few special families that I was able to spend a full session with!

How precious are they?  Meet Paris and Nash.

Meet Roberta's grandchildren!

Meet Warren and Louise!

Meet Harper and Ella!

Meet Edy!
